Babies and cards.

In Holland we have this tradition that when a baby is born, you send a card to all your friends and family. Within the card you find important information, like the name of the newborn, date of birth, hight, weight,  etc. And it is personal. It contains a nice little poem, a cute drawing or a sweet picture. It is personal, because it is special. Having a baby is such an amazing and intense experience, that you can understand I was very honored when I was asked by a good old friend, to illustrate the birth card of their baby to be. And I know that all babies are very welcome and wanted,  but this one in particulair. I felt so much joy in creating something so special for someone, and that they let me be part of their journey.

Now I know I was talking earlier about not pursueing fame and wealth and stuff, but if I can continue doing these kind of things, I will sign up for it. It felt really good to make someone so happy with a simple drawing of mine. Will show the results when the baby is there, who knows, in the future I can become part of more babies to be! (yeah, yeah, to illustrate I mean :))

So, and on a lighter note, this is Sophie's latest art gallery in the house.

Proud mama talking.
